Former France, Chelsea and Arsenal defender, William Gallas, has questioned the Blues failure to sufficiently reinforce their defense this summer.
The Frenchman is not happy that his former club failed to find a suitable replacement for Thiago Silva, who left the club at the expiration of his deal.
Silva moved to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and was a marquee center-back and leader for the club.
The Brazilian helped the Blues win the UEFA Champions League during the 2020-21 campaign.
Now that the 39-year-old has departed Stamford Bridge, Gallas said (via SPTC): "If you want to be a successful club, if you want to challenge and compete in the Premier League, you must have a good defence.
