Enyobeni Tavern Owner Denies Responsibility In Scenery Park Incident

The owner of Enyobeni Tavern , where 21 young people died in Scenery Park in East London in the Eastern Cape, Vuyokazi Ndevu, has told the Mdantsane inquest that she does not know who should be held responsible for their deaths.

Ndevu has been accused of failing to ensure the safety of patrons during the event that was planned on the day of the tragedy.

The evidence leader in the Inquest, Advocate Luvuyo Vena has accused the owners of being profit driven as they failed to apply for a special permit to host a function which would have stated how many people would have been allowed inside the establishment.

"The reason l am staying on this one because when DJ Cish told the court profit was made on this time as compared to the previous one which did not make profit you did not dispute Mr Ndevu did not dispute that evidence which means now that entitled me to conclude that it means it is a fact it is true what he was saying because it was left unchallenged."
