Entries Open For Wtm Africa Responsible Tourism Awards
Entries are now open for the WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards 2025 with the submission deadline set for March 19. The awards recognise businesses and initiatives across Africa that use tourism to address global challenges while creating positive local impact.
These annual awards celebrate exceptional efforts driving tourism as a force for good, says Megan de Jager , Portfolio Director for RX Africa. Theyre our way of honouring initiatives that address key global challenges while enhancing the travel experience.
The judging panel, chaired by Harold Goodwin , WTM Africas Responsible Tourism Adviser, will evaluate submissions in six categories:
- All-inclusive tourism: Can it be responsible?
- Adapting to climate change
- Increasing local sourcing to create shared value
- Peace and understanding
- Managing waste: Reduce, reuse, recycle and upcycle
- Nature-positive travel
The winners will be announced during WTM Africa at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on April 10. Gold winners in each category will also be eligible to compete in the global Responsible Tourism Awards later this year.
In previous years, Africa scooped as many as five awards in the global accolades and, last year, we picked up another this underscores our regions innovative spirit, drive and commitment to responsible tourism, De Jager says.
