Efforts Made To Protect Consumers Rights With Online Market Space

The Office of the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud says efforts are being made to protect consumers rights within the online market space.

This was revealed by the organisations chief executive officer, Queen Munyai during the World Consumer Rights Day commemoration at the University of Mpumalangas Mbombela Campus.

The event was organized in collaboration with the National Consumer Commission, the Competition Commission of South Africa, and the Mpumalanga Economic Development and Tourism Department.

Munyai says they are currently engaging with various online market platforms to educate them about the countrys market legislations.

We are in communication with suppliers that are selling online, like your Amazon, your Temu, and your Shein because those are the things that our consumers are preferring to buy from. So, in that space were also making sure that consumers are protected even in those spaces.
