The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF in the Free State plans to open a corruption case against Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae and her husband, Mangaung Metro Speaker Lawrence Mathae.
The EFF claims that a leaked message from a businessperson alleges the couple received millions of rand in bribes to secure a road contract in Tweespruit.
The party states that while the contract has been terminated, part of the alleged bribe was used to purchase a car for the couple and assist with transport for the ANC Womens League conference.
"The contractor was appointed when his company was under business rescue," says EFF provincial secretary Bosanku Msimanga.
