Eff: Revoke Citizenship Of Sans Taking Up Trump's Refugee Offer

The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF has called on the government to revoke the citizenship of South Africans who take up US President Donald Trumps offer of resettlement in the US as refugees .

In an order signed on Friday 7 February, Trump claimed that the recently signed Expropriation Act enables the government to seize ethnic minority Afrikaners' agricultural property without compensation.

He therefore cut US funding to South Africa and announced a policy of resettling Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation.

The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritise humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination, he ordered.

EFF reacts to Trumps order

In a statement on Saturday, the EFF described Trumps order as illogical because he recently signed another order freezing the admission of refugees and cutting funding for the very same resettlement program.

Trumps order also cited South Africas recent legal actions against Israel at the International Court of Justice ICJ. EFF claimed this is the real reason for the US cutting aid to South Africa.

The party therefore called on the government to expel the Israeli Embassy and cut all diplomatic and economic ties with Israel.

Revoke citizenship

Further to this, South Africa must revoke the citizenship of any individual who assumes refugee status in the USA on the basis of this executive order, as it would be a declaration of the belief that South Africas laws, which seek to promote equality and social cohesion, are not in sync with such an individuals values, it added.

No one is being persecuted in South Africa, and to flee to the USA under this pretence should result in an immediate revoking of citizenship. No one who flees to the USA on the basis of misinformation and in support of an attack of our sovereignty should retain South African citizenship.
