Eff Calls For Godongwana, Treasury Dg To Resign

The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF is adamant that Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana should resign, accusing him of posing a threat to the countrys economic stability.

This comes after the reversal of the highly contentious 0.5 point Value-Added Tax VAT hike, which was due to take effect on May 1.

The EFF is also demanding the resignation of National Treasury Director-General, Dr. Duncan Pieterse.

The Party's Senior Researcher, Dr. Gumani Tshimomola says Godongwana contravened the Public Finance Management Act requirement when he failed to table a budget before the end of the financial year.

Tshimomola says, "A budget is such an important government instrument to ensure that theres continuity of service delivery. Theres certainty in the economy and the market."
