The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun to immediately withdraw an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Benneth Igweh from election duties in Edo State.
The party cited potential crises as its reason, noting that there were allegations that Igweh had been strategically placed to facilitate electoral malpractices.
PDP made the demand in a statement signed by Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary on Saturday.
Ologunagba said that the party raised concerns after reports surfaced in sections of the media alleging that AIG Igweh might provide cover for APC thugs.
PDP's demand is necessitated by allegation in a section of the media and across Edo State that the AIG has been reportedly positioned by the APC to provide cover for APC thugs to attack collation centers and compromise election results in favour of the APC.
