Ec To Put Spotlight On Heinous Crimes Committed Against Children

The Eastern Cape government says the spotlight will be put on heinous crimes committed against children and people living with disabilities.

This as the province officially launched Disability Rights Awareness Month, and marked provincial Childrens Day at Despatch in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

The province is faced with the challenge of malnutrition and lack of access to certain services especially in rural areas for people living with disabilities.

One of the major issues highlighted is children who do not have birth certificates.

The MEC for Social Development Bukiwe Fanta says this hinders the provision of social grants.
