All passes in the Eastern Cape have been opened for motorists, however the Department of Transport is still appealing to motorists to be cautious.

The roads that were closed are the Penhoek Pass on the N6 between Jamestown and Komani, the Barkley Pass on the R58 between Elliot and Barkley, as well as the R58 route from Elliot towards Ngcobo.

Transport MEC spokesperson Makhaya Komisa says law enforcement officials are still monitoring the passes, and drivers are asked to be cautious as the road is still slippery.
