Eastern Cape Kidnap Victims Found Alive

The Hawks in the Eastern Cape have confirmed that Alize Van Der Merwe, who was reported missing, has been rescued.

The 39-year-old was kidnapped in Mthatha on Friday while travelling from East London to a resort in Port St Johns.

She was rescued along with a 34-year-old woman who was also kidnapped on the 17th of September between Elliott and Barkley East.

Provincial Hawks spokesperson Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana says they were released due to the pressure that was exerted by law enforcement agencies in finding them.
