Dulcie September Assassination Anniversary, Calls For Reopening Case

Today marks the 37th commemoration since the assassination of Cape Town struggle stalwart Dulcie September. She was shot and killed on the 29th of March, 1988, while working as an ANC representative in Paris, France. She became involved in the struggle for the liberation of South Africa.

There have been repeated calls for the reopening of the investigation into her murder so the perpetrators can be brought to book. Stephen OSullivan has a vivid recollection of the events of that day in 1988.

Apart from the assassination itself, which was extremely shocking, it also happened about five minutes from my own apartment, and I still live in my building, and the fact that it happened so close by was very shocking. The assassination was very shocking, and the people were extremely shocked that it happened in Paris, and later on people were even more shocked, but in fact nobody was formally charged with the murder, OSullivan explains.
