The rumoured sale of Premier Soccer League PSL club Royal AM to businessman Chockalingam Roy Moodley has reportedly fallen through, according to various reports.

Earlier on Thursday 27 March, Sportswire reported that the politically connected Moodley had acquired AM, pending approval from the PSLs executive committee.

However, citing an anonymous source, SowetanLIVE now reports that the South African Revenue Service SARS has blocked the deal after Moodley allegedly failed its vetting process.

Apparently, Moodleys background paints him as someone who doesnt have a good record with SARS , so they have decided to nullify his winning bid, the publications source reportedly said.

Jaco Venter, the Royal AM curator appointed by SARS, said there will be a press release once the sale process is finalised.

Renowned sports broadcaster Robert Marawa also wrote on X that the deal has not gone through. We await a statement from the curator, then League, to enter the fray and make a decision on the future if any of the club, he added.

A third source, sports business news publication Cash N Sport , also claimed that a R20 million deal had been agreed between the curator and Moodleys camp. PSL exco declined and deal has collapsed. Royal AM remains on the market, it added on X .

According to the National Soccer League NSL handbook , the executive committee must approve any sale, transfer or disposition of PSL clubs.

Furthermore, a proposed sale submitted for approval must be accompanied by prior written approval by the South African Football Federation SAFA along with a signed agreement giving effect to the transaction,
