The Miami Dolphins have made Jalen Ramsey the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
The Dolphins and Ramsey agreed on a three-year extension worth $72.3 million, giving him an annual salary of $24.1 million per year, head coach Mike McDonald confirmed at a press conference Friday.
Ramsey is guaranteed to earn $55.3 million starting this season, which ensures he will have the highest career earnings for a cornerback in league history, according to ESPN.
When asked about Ramsey's new extension at a press conference Friday, McDaniel said, "I think he (Ramsey) fits the mold of what we're looking for. The players are happy to be here and we're happy to see them get taken care of on the books."
Ramsey, 29, who has missed practice due to an apparent hamstring injury made his return to the field Friday ahead of Miami's Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
