Doge Latest: Payment Posts, Verification Discrepancies And Plant-watering
The Department of Government Efficiency DOGE - led by South African tech billionaire Elon Musk - continues to shake up the USA in a bid to identify government inefficiencies and eliminate what it deems wasteful federal spending.
In its latest update, the department announced that - for the sake of maximum government transparency - it would be publicly posting all grant payments made by the Programme Support Centre PSC in the Department of Health Human Services HSS on its website .
This comes as DOGEs attempt to instil accountability in the department that processes approximately 215 billion per year in grant payments, many of which are made without documentation, receipt or explanation.
According to DOGE, grantees drawing money from the department must include a brief justification of the moneys intended purpose while agencies approving the grants must include a brief justification for the moneys intended use and its reason for approval.
The first three days worth of grant payments 37 207 grant payments have reportedly been uploaded, with grant payment justifications to also be posted after this week.
