Djokovic Defeats Alcaraz In Melbourne
Ten-time champion, Novak Djokovic of Serbia, showed hes still at the top of his game after beating third seed, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne.
The 37-year-old 24-time Grand Slam champion took care of the Spanish rising star in four sets, the score 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4 to reach his 50th Grand Slam semi-final.
The 21-year-old Spaniard took the opening set, playing some brilliant tennis at times. Djokovic, however, has displayed a never-say-die attitude throughout his career, which is just one of the cornerstones of his success. This allowed him to turn the tables in the 2nd set.
Both players battled to find their best form in the 3rd set. The Serbian however, seemed to bounce back from his mistakes much better than his younger opponent and he prevailed.
With momentum on his side, Djokovic saw off the Spaniards best efforts in the 4th set to take the match. He will face world number two Alexander Zverev in the semi-final. The German needed four sets to beat American 12th seed Tommy Paul 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.
