defence in meyiwa trial requests time to go through documents

Defence counsel, Adv. Charles Mnisi, in former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwas murder trial yesterday told the High Court in Pretoria that he was not ready to proceed with cross-examination and requested time to go through the documents.

The case was adjourned yesterday to allow the defence to go through additional ballistic evidence they received. It will resume today.

The additional documents were supplied by ballistic expert Colonel Chris Mangena yesterday morning at Mnisi's request during cross-examination on Friday last week.

Five men are on trial for Meyiwa's murder in 2014.

Mnisi said: The court would bear in mind that the expert himself took, I mean, a weekend to go over these things, to recompile this document, and he was using a microscope. I cannot be expected, within 30 minutes to have made a sense of what is, of what is happening in this document and proceed with my cross-examination. I'm not ready.
