Deadline For Replacement Of Yellow Sassa Cards Looms

Social grant recipients have been warned that the yellow SASSA cards will stop functioning after the March 20th deadline.

Beneficiaries have until Thursday this week to swap their yellow SASSA cards with the new black Postbank cards.

Postbank CEO Nikki Mbengashe says they will continue to issue the new black card beyond the deadline. Mbengashe says they will increase the number of registration sites beyond the current 320 sites nationally.

Mbengashe together with SASSA officials briefed the media in Pretoria today. 20th of March only means one thing, it means that the Sassa gold card will no longer be working. We are pleading with all beneficiaries to please not attempt to use this card post the 20th of March to access their grant. Your account number doesnt change, your grant will still go into your bank account. But the ability to access this bank account will cease.
