De Lille Receives Top Seat On Un Tourism Executive Council
South Africa's Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, has been appointed as the joint Vice Chair of the UN Tourism Executive Council, a global body that promotes responsible, sustainable, and accessible tourism. Czechia will serve as the second Vice Chair, while Brazil is set to chair the council in 2025.
De Lille's appointment comes as South Africa prepares to assume the G20 presidency in 2025, which is expected to further elevate the country's influence in global economic discussions. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, emphasized that this leadership position will enhance South Africa's role in fostering economic growth for Africa.
Brett Heron, Secretary General of De Lilles GOOD Party, expressed optimism about the tourism sector's potential to boost South Africa's economy, particularly as the country takes on more global leadership roles. The appointment marks a significant milestone for South Africa's engagement in international tourism and its commitment to sustainable development.
