The family of the late veteran actor, Darlington Michaels, says he was a tower of strength not only to them but to the community as a whole.
This was heard at Michaelss funeral service this morning at the Uncle Toms Hall in Orlando West, Soweto.
Best known for his role as the extravagant gangster Georgie Papa G Zamdela on the soapie Isidingo , Michaels was a veteran performer whose career spanned several decades across television and theatre.
He passed away last week after a short illness at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
Family representative Xoli Noah says: It has affected us a lot, you know, because he has left behind a legacy because we wanted to learn more from him in terms of directing and narrating plays and so on. For the family, it is a big loss to them and they cant cope because they have lost a mentor a father and grandfather. Even now just a week before his passing, he had mentored a lot of themso the nation has lost.
