Diogo Dalot remains optimistic about Manchester United's progress despite their dismal Premier League campaign, which saw them slump to a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Ruben Amorim's side controlled possession at the City Ground but struggled to break down the resilient hosts. United academy graduate Anthony Elanga sealed the win for Forest with a brilliant solo goal, condemning his former club to their 13th league defeat of the season.

United currently sit 13th in the table with just eight games remaining and are now just one loss away from equalling their worst-ever tally of Premier League defeats in a single season-set under Erik ten Hag in 2023/24.

Despite their struggles, Dalot believes the team is making progress as they adapt to Amorim's tactics. Speaking to MUTV, the Portuguese defender pointed to United's commitment and fight as positive signs for the future.

"Our fighting spirit shows how much we want to change the situation and not be in the position we are in, especially in the Premier League," Dalot said.
