The Democratic Alliance DA says it will pursue further action against former Justice Minister, Thembi Simelane to ensure that she is held accountable for her alleged role in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, despite her cabinet reshuffle.
Last night, President Cyril Ramaphosa reshuffled his cabinet making four changes to the executive.
Simelane has been moved from the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development to the Ministry of Human Settlements, while Mmamoloko Kubayi takes over as the new Justice Minister.
The DAs Spokesperson on Justice and Constitutional Development, Adv. Glynnis Breytenbach says, Minister Simelane has been under scrutiny for the last five months. Its taken the president five months to make this decision, the Lord alone knows why.
And now hes moved her from one ministry to another and retained her in his cabinet, when its very clear that shes seriously conflicted, and seriously compromised, and she should be removed from the cabinet until all this has been cleared up. To just move her sideways is really an insult to the intelligence of every single South African, Breytenbach adds.
