Da Demands Accountability On 3gar Mclaren Crash

da demands accountability on 3gar mclaren crash

The Democratic Alliance DA has raised concerns over what it perceives as a lack of urgency in the investigation into the high-profile car crash involving Nigerian rapper 3GAR , who reportedly totalled his R3 million McLaren on High Level Road in Sea Point more than four weeks ago.

The case has drawn public attention, not only because of the celebrity status of the driver but also due to concerns over public safety in affluent Cape Town neighbourhoods.

According to Nicholas Gostell, a DA member of the National Council of Provinces focusing on Security and Justice, the Sea Point Police have confirmed that they are investigating the incident. However, he noted with concern that weeks after the crash, no charges had been filed against the driver.

Whilst security companies have released video footage of the accident, clearly showing that the vehicle moved at excessive speed through a suburban area before losing control, crashing into a kerb, and colliding with a boundary wall, the driver now alleges on social media that he swerved to avoid a homeless person and that the videos were edited, Gostell stated.

Gostells comments come against a backdrop of rising frustrations among local residents about the increasingly reckless behaviour of high-performance vehicles on the streets of Sea Point and neighbouring Camps Bay.
