Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi will reportedly face no formal action from the Football Association FA despite wearing a Christian message on his armband, defying warnings regarding the display of religious messages.
In the 1-1 draw with Newcastle, Guehi wore an armband with the handwritten message "I love Jesus," and during the 1-0 win at Ipswich, he wore another armband stating "Jesus loves you." This led to the FA reminding both Guehi and the club of kit regulations that prohibit religious messages on matchday apparel.
While Guehis actions have attracted attention, the FA has opted not to take further action, despite the player's defiance of the regulations. Guehi, who has previously discussed his religious beliefs, was again reminded of the rules, which focus on banning religious expressions on official kits.
The controversy comes amid the ongoing Rainbow Laces campaign, in which captains across the Premier League have worn rainbow armbands to show support for LGBTQ inclusion in sport.
