Criminals Who Place Spikes, Rocks On The Roads, Days Are Numbered

Johannesburg Metro Police officers have been deployed across various freeways to deal with issues of spiking and placing of rocks on the roads.

There have been several incidences where criminals placed spikes and big rocks on the freeways. When motorists stop, they are robbed of their vehicles and other valuables.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says officers will be out to deter such criminal acts.

We have deployed on the freeways. That is the M1, the N3 and the N1 as well. We know there have been reports of spiking on the freeways, especially on the N1 north between Nasrec and Maraisburg. Officers have been deployed to that area to deter any criminal activities happening there.
