South African National Parks, the South African Police Service and the Camps Bay City Improvement District have intensified security operations on Lions Head, Signal Hill, Pipe Track and The Glen areas of Table Mountain National Park TMNP following a spike in armed robbery incidents.

Recent weeks have seen an increase in reported crimes in these areas, prompting authorities to implement joint and individual security measures. These include increased patrols, intelligence-led interventions and coordinated efforts to apprehend suspects.

In a joint statement, the organisations acknowledged public concerns and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring visitor safety. The safety and security of park visitors remain our top priority and we are committed to taking proactive measures to curb criminal activities in these areas.

Visitors to TMNP are urged to take precautionary measures, including:

• Hiking or cycling in groups of four or more for safety
• Accessing the park only between sunrise and sunset
• Informing someone of your planned route and expected return time
• Using mobile tracking applications for safety purposes
