Court Dismisses Bid For Arendse To Recuse Himself From Jordaan Case
The Presiding Officer in the theft and fraud case involving South African Football Association SAFA president Danny Jordaan and his two co-accused has dismissed the states application for advocate Norman Arendse to recuse himself from the defence team of Jordaan and SAFA CFO Gronie Hluyo.
The State argues in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge that Arendse is also SAFAs legal representative and a former SAFA NEC member.
However, Magistrate Shirley Soko ruled there was no conflict of interest and that he could continue as Senior Counsel for the two accused.
Jordaan and his co-accused are charged with several counts for allegedly defrauding the association of about R1.3 million.
