Councillor Condemns Torching Of Court On Cape Flats

The Bonteheuwel Ward Councillor, Angus Mckenzie has condemned the actions of residents of Bishop Lavis on the Cape Flats, who are alleged to be responsible for the fire that has damaged parts of the local magistrates court.

No arrests have been made as yet. Mckenzie says the burning of the court will lead to justice being delayed for many people who are dependent on the court to serve them justice.

It is critically important that as communities we must stand together against gangsters and their actions. We must never be seen to be supporting gangsterism, gangsters in whichever shape or form. It is disheartening that a minority of people still feel the need to support and fight for gangsters in this manner. Actions of these individuals are disappointing and really signal the major problem that we as a society, including law enforcement and community members, have in fighting this scourge of gangsterism and drug abuse in our communities.
