Cosatu Threatens To Act If Convicted Matjhabeng Mayor Reinstated

COSATU in the Free State has threatened to cause disruptions if the ANC persists with reinstating convicted Matjhabeng Mayor, Thanduxolo Khalipha through backdoors.

COSATU has accused the ANC in the province of forcing the Matjhabeng caucus to vote in favour of Khalipha.

In December last year, Khalipha was found guilty by the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court after assaulting his bodyguards.

COSATU provincial secretary, Tiisetso Mahlatsi says currently Matjhabeng is in the process of rebuilding. He says the municipality has stabilised and returning Khalipha will collapse what has been achieved.

Mahlatsi accused Khalipha of using municipal resources for his gains.
