Cosatu In Western Cape Ready To Welcome Rasool Back To The Province

cosatu in western cape ready to welcome rasool back to the province

COSATU in the Western Cape says one of the resolutions taken at its 6-th congress held at the weekend is to welcome Ebrahim Rasool back into the province.

This follows the expulsion of Rasool as South Africas ambassador to the US.

Provincial Secretary Malvern De Bruyn says they had a successful congress where a number of resolutions were taken. De Bruyn addressed the media in Cape Town with the newly elected leadership of COSATU,

Ebrahim Rasool is one of us. Hes a child of the soil and as COSATU weve decided in this congress that when he arrives in the Western Cape that we will go in in our numbers to the Cape Town International Airport to welcome him back this province. And as COSATU, we reject what the Trump government is currently doing dealing with Africa for the wrong reasons. So, we are saying that we will welcome him back to say come back home.

Meanwhile, several South African political parties have responded to the US decision, expressing a range of opinions. Some have criticized the move as an overreach of US influence in South African affairs, while others have called for diplomatic dialogue to resolve the tensions.
