The elderly in Coronationville, Johannesburg, say water cuts in their area have severely affected their lives.
Dozens of disgruntled residents took to the streets from the early hours of this morning to protest, blockading several main roads.
They have been experiencing water cuts for more than three weeks with supply only from 12am to 4am.
One resident Mohammed Ebrahim says the situation has become unbearable, especially for the elderly.
Ebrahim says, "Im a senior citizen. I have been living here all my life and we have a serious problem of water. I live at the army flats where there is a lot of senior citizens. We cant even bath and I am a Muslim and we pray five times a day, so we need to wash. We need our councillor to come out and assist in this situation but she is never available.
