Concourt Dismisses Zuma's Private Prosecution Appeal Against Ramaphosa

The Constitutional Court has rejected former president Jacob Zumas application for leave to appeal his private prosecution case against President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Zuma accused Ramaphosa of being an accessory after the alleged leak of his medical details, but the court found that Zuma failed to explain the delay in bringing the case and there were no reasonable prospects of success.

The Constitutional Court has considered the application for leave to appeal and has concluded that there is no adequate explanation for the applicants delay in bringing the application for leave to appeal and there are no reasonable prospects of success on the merits of the application for leave to appeal, read the court ruling.

Condonation must be refused and, as a consequence, the application for leave to appeal fails.

The ruling brings an end to Zumas bid for private prosecution, following earlier rejections by the Gauteng High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
