Complainant Andiswa Mengo To Testify In Judge Mbenenge Tribunal Case

The Judicial Conduct Tribunal probing allegations of sexual harassment against Judge President Selby Mbenenge of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court continues on Tuesday with the evidence of the complainant Andiswa Mengo.

The complainant contends that the alleged sexual harassment took place between June 2021 and November 2022 via in-person and electronic communication, which according to her, were unwanted.

The Tribunal, which was initially going to be part public and part in-camera will now be public.

Judge President Selby Mbenenge initially opposed a public hearing into the first-ever probe of this nature in the Judiciary.

This resulted in a December 2024 ruling that ordered a hybrid hearing. However, a turn of events on Monday 13 January 2025 saw a changed position from the top Judge, resulting in the Tribunal delivering another order which now makes the hearings public in its entirety.
