Communities Are Going To Be Safe And Enjoy This Season Mchunu
The South African Police Service SAPS is ramping up its presence across the Cape Town Metro as part of its festive season operations. Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has expressed optimism following recent statistics, which show promising results as the force intensifies efforts to combat all forms of crime.
Over 2,700 new recruits have been deployed nationwide, with 940 officers assigned to the Western Cape.
The nationwide Safer Festive Season operations include measures such as roadblocks and search-and-seizure operations, aimed at deterring criminal activity and ensuring compliance with the law.
"Having launched the season in October, we assured the public that we would be out there guaranteeing their safety. This is not just talk we are now ensuring we are on the ground," Mchunu said. "While everyone talks about wanting to feel safe, the South African Police are here to deliver on that promise. We are demonstrating our commitment to the nation, supporting every assurance made by the president, government, and municipalities, to ensure communities are safe and can enjoy this festive season."
