Commentary Justifying The Murder Of Kzn Woman Disturbing: Lobby Group

Not In My Name Movement has condemned the commentary from individuals who are said to be justifying the brutal murder of a 25-year-old woman allegedly by her partner at Umzinto on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

Following the incident, yesterday police confirmed that the body of a man believed to be her partner has been found hanging off a tree in the same area.

He confessed to killing his girlfriend in a social media video .

The movements General Secretary Themba Masango says What is even more disturbing is the commentary from certain individuals, who are exhibiting a perilous and toxic mindset justifying violence and murder by suggesting that the alleged infidelity or behavior of the victim warranted such an extreme reaction is utterly reprehensible.

He adds: This misogynistic mindset is a manifestation of a deeply ingrained societal issue, where women are held accountable for mens emotional responses and choices. It not only diminishes the value of human life but also shifts accountability away from the perpetrator. This rhetoric implies that the victim deserved to be murdered, which is an unacceptable justification for violence. - Reporting by Sthembile Shabalala.
