Closing Argument Expected In Malema Firearm Discharge Case
The firearm discharge case against Economic Freedom Fighters EFF leader Julius Malema and his bodyguard Adriaan Snyman is back at the East London Regional Court in the Eastern Cape this morning for closing arguments, from both the state and the defence.
Malema and co-accused Snyman are facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm in the presence of a crowd, endangering the crowd.
This allegedly happened at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane during the EFFs fifth anniversary in 2018.
The matter was initially set to commence on November 1 but was postponed due to the ill health of presiding Magistrate Twanet Olivier.
During the matters previous sitting, the defence closed its arguments after hearing evidence from various witnesses including South African Police Service SAPS detectives, audio and visual analysts and ballistic experts.
