Free State Education MEC Doctor Mamiki Maboya says she is confident that the province will maintain its number one spot in the national matric examination results.
Maboyas statement comes before the class of 2024 signs a pledge in Thaba Nchu today.
The national matric exams will kick off on Monday.
Maboya says the province is ready for exams after taking substantive measures to ensure that every matric learner is equipped to sit for them.
I think we have quite a well-oiled machine by now and as a result we are confident that the spot will still be jealously safeguarded and making sure that it belongs to the Free State. That is where that spot belongs, but we have sort of changed the way we are doing things now because we are saying we are not just comfortable with the passes that we have, we now have to look at the quality of passes.
