City Power has announced a 14-day suspension of repairs and maintenance due to threats from the South African National Civic Organisation Sanco.
Sanco delivered a memorandum to City Powers Alexandra Service Delivery Centre SDC on Thursday, outlining demands which included a fixed electricity charge for residents.
City Power is reviewing the memorandum and preparing a response despite the threats.
City Power Spokesperson Isaac Mangena expressed concern over the intimidation, highlighting ongoing attacks and insults faced by their teams, which are affecting service delivery.
Mangena stated, As such, City Power will not hesitate to remove its employees in the areas where Sanco made threats about. The safety of our employees and that of our contractors is very important, and we will not compromise it. We take these threats very seriously and have informed law enforcement agencies to be vigilant and to act against anyone who threatens service delivery in Alexandra.
