chris hani municipality announces fourday water interruption

The Chris Hani District Municipality in the Eastern Cape has announced a four-day water supply interruption in parts of Komani.

The affected areas include the townships of Ezibeleni and Queendustria. This is to allow a contractor working on the Fikile Gwadana Road, to complete the project. The current stage of the project requires the lowering of the water pressure.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Technical Services in the District, Bongeka Nobuntu says they will provide alternative water supply to the affected areas.

"During this period, the Chris Hani District Municipality will ensure continued water supply to minimise the impact to consumers. We have already drafted a plan to supply water to the affected consumers as a total of eight water carts, with a capacity ranging from 10 000 to 16 000 litres, will be deployed as an intervention over the period. The municipality has engaged relevant stakeholders including ward councilors, ward committees and the business fraternity for seamless distribution during the period, with the clear indication of specific points of distribution."
