Checkers Sixty60 Deliveries Now Available At Shoprite In South Africa

The popular Checkers Sixty60 on-demand grocery delivery service has been launched at selected Shoprite supermarkets in South Africa, with a further rollout coming soon.

In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday 4 March, the Shoprite Group said it had conducted a successful pilot in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

Checkers Sixty60 launches at Shoprite

Sixty60 is set to launch in 19 Shoprite stores across eight provinces. A phased rollout will ensure that each new location delivers the excellence and efficiency that has become synonymous with Sixty60, the group said.

The new service is known as Shoprite Sixty60. It is already available at Shoprite Atlantis, Western Cape and Shoprite Jabulani in Soweto, Gauteng. Western Capes Shoprite Kleinmond and Mpumalangas Shoprite Kriel in Ga-Nala will follow in March.

"After many months of working feverishly behind-the-scenes, we are excited to introduce Shoprite Sixty60 to locations where it can have a meaningful impact for consumers needing the convenience of home delivery, and where the logistics are in place to support a seamless experience, the groups Chief of Strategy and Innovation Neil Schreuder said.

Customers will order at in-store prices and get the same instant Xtra Savings rewards on the app and at the till.

Launched in 2019, Checkers Sixty60s popularity has grown immensely in recent years. Its sales increased by 47 in the second half of 2024 following a 63 increase in the first half, according to the groups latest half-year results .

In a separate statement, Checkers also announced a new e-commerce website where Sixty60 shoppers can now order online using any browser on any device. You can access the new Sixty60 website here .

This means that customers who have Huawei devices and therefore unable to download Android apps can now order deliveries online.
