Cardoso's Confidence: Mamelodi Sundowns' Strategy Beyond Iqraam Rayners
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is not concerned with the over-reliance of in-form striker Iqraam Rayners
His latest victory a narrow 1-0 win over AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership has highlighted the remarkable form of striker Rayners, who leads the league's goal-scoring charts with an impressive six goals in just ten matches. Yet, Cardoso remains unperturbed by the prospect of over-reliance on his star striker.
Rayners has been a focal point since Cardoso's arrival, finding the back of the net in each of the coachs first three games in charge. Despite this, Cardoso expressed confidence that other members of his squad will step up to contribute as the season progresses.
Im not really worried because I would worry if we were not creating the chances that we have been in the last games. We have created goal-scoring situations and Iqraam is getting the goals but I believe that well get more coming from different players, he asserted.
This optimistic outlook is bolstered by Sundowns recent defensive solidity. Under Cardosos leadership, the team has yet to concede a goal, a testament to the Portuguese coachs focus on defensive organisation.
