Cape Town's Anti-litter Mascot Bingo Hijacked En Route To School Visit

The latest event in a series of attacks on City of Cape Town workers and officials involves Bingo, the Citys anti-litter mascot and his team driver. The duo was ambushed and hijacked in Gugulethu yesterday, 27 February 2025, reports Cape town Etc .

The Toyota Quantum, which had been transporting Bingo, was stolen while en route to the next school visit.

None of the parties involved were physically harmed during the attack and the driver has since been offered counselling.

The Bingo costume was, however, taken along with the vehicle.

As a result, the City has urged the public to be vigilant and aware of possible scams involving a fake Bingo.
