In a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup qualifier, Cameroon club Fovu Baham fielded only eight players in their match against Paynesville of Liberia, ultimately suffering a 4-0 defeat.

A CAF official informed AFP that only eight of the Fovu players who travelled to Monrovia were registered to play in the competition. The reasons behind Fovus decision to travel with insufficient players for the first-round, first-leg match in Liberia remain unknown.

Fovu, playing with a goalkeeper and seven outfield players, was no match for the hosts, who scored two goals in each half and established a strong lead before the second leg on August 25.

Fovus failure to field 11 players occurred 24 hours after another unusual incident in the competition. AS Otoho from Congo Brazzaville travelled to Equatorial Guinea to play against 15 de Agosto, but the match was cancelled because the venue was hosting a concert.

CAF responded by scheduling both legs of the match to be played in Congo, with the first leg on August 25 and the second leg three days later.
