Kenya and Zimbabwe, both absent from the last qualifiers due to a FIFA ban resulting from government intervention, are equally motivated. With five and six previous participations respectively, these teams are eyeing a return to the continental stage. For Kenya, the last AFCON appearance was in Egypt 2019, and Zimbabwe hasnt competed in Africas premier soccer event since Cameroon 2021. The draw for the 2025 AFCON, hosted by Morocco, has taken place this Thursday, July 4, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 48 participating teams were divided into twelve groups of four each, comprising the 44 direct entrants and the four winners from the preliminary round.
