Calls For Protection Of 7-year-old Girls Rape Suspects' Dna Samples

calls for protection of 7yearold girls rape suspects dna samples

Civic organisations and political parties in the Buffalo City Metro are calling for the protection of the DNA samples of the possible suspects in the rape case of a seven-year-old girl in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape.

They handed a memorandum to the Metro Mayor, Princess Faku, at the East London city hall.

This followed numerous marches across the country in solidarity with rape victims including the girl.

University of Fort Hare Gender Transformation Officer Sinovuyo Mpola says they demand that rape suspects be denied bail and rapists denied parole.

Mpola says, "We demand that the court takes these cases seriously. We demand that cases do not take five months for them to be investigated. People of our society shouldnt have to take their cases to the streets in order for them to be taken seriously."
