Calls For Police Visibility At Schools After Principal Was Shot Dead
The South African Democratic Teachers Union Sadtu in the Western Cape has called for police visibility in schools to ensure the safety of teachers and learners.
This follows the fatal shooting of a school principal this morning in Ekuthuleni Primary School, in Kraaifontein, outside Cape Town.
The 54-year-old was shot dead by three unidentified men while sitting in his vehicle with his wife outside the school premises.
The suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
"We call upon the police as well as the Department of Safety and Security within the province to ensure that there is police visibility early in the morning around schools because we understand that the visibility of the police is a deterrent to crime," says Sadtus Provincial Secretary Sibongile Kwazi.
