Calls For Harsher Penalties For Irresponsible Road Users
A call for harsher penalties for irresponsible road users that cause fatal crashes continues to be made as the death toll on Eastern Cape roads continues to climb.
Since the start of the festive, at least 89 people died on Eastern Cape roads.
Traffic reports specialist Tshepo Machaea says a collaborative effort between all road users and role-players must come to fruition.
This is a societal matter, it has start from the society, it goes to government departments, government departments have to partner and then we do not leave any stone unturned whereby everyone will be part of the campaigns that are taking place and they should be done. Not only during the festive season but it should be done 365 days a year, not only Easter not only Christmas, says Machaea
