The Eastern Cape Geographical Names Council Chairperson Christian Martin has confirmed the council has received an application for the name change of one of the busiest roads in Gqeberha, Cape Road to Siya Kolisi Road.
Cape Road is the old road which linked Cape Town and Gqeberha.
Martin says the application was submitted by one of the Springboks supporters Sherwin Jeptha.
He says public hearings will be held for the name change.
The Eastern Cape Geographical Names has received committee has received an application to Siya Kolisis name. This is the second name we have received including R75 to become Rassie Erasmus. What we are doing is to register all these names and will consult with relevant municipalities. We will consult NMB and public hearings will be held.
