The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has donated $14 million to the Ivorian Football Federation in recognition of their successful hosting of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The announcement was made during the opening of the Coaches Conference in Abidjan on September 12th. This is the first time CAF has taken this power play, proving that AFCON 2023 was a home run for the host nation.

Many consider the tournament, which ran from January 16 to February 11, to be the best organized yet. Cote DIvoire emerged victorious, defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the final. This made them the first team since Egypt in 2006 to win the Africa Cup of Nations on home turf, a true slam dunk.

The two-day Coaches Conference will feature top trainers from across Africa. Theyll discuss national team performances and the lasting impact of AFCON, emphasizing African footballs global reach. Notable attendees include AFCON-winning coach Emerse Fae and former Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro.

President Alassane Ouattara also awarded CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe the national honor of Commander of National Order. This touchdown celebration highlights the significance of this achievement for Cote DIvoire and the continents football.
