The Broward Sheriff's Office on Wednesday announced the arrests of eight suspects, who they say are believed to be members of a "violent, criminal gang."
According to a BSO news release, the suspects were arrested in a 33-count indictment for various charges, including murder, attempted murder and racketeering.
"I applaud the work of the dedicated detectives, the valuable assistance from the State Attorney's Office and collaboration with our law enforcement partners to rid Broward County of these heartless, violent criminals whose evil and cruel acts took innocent lives and placed communities in fear," Sheriff Gregory Tony said in a statement. "Evildoers should be warned -- we will not let up in our relentless effort to keep Broward County safe."
According to the news release, the interagency operation began "after Sigmund Brown's fingerprint was recovered from a car connected to a homicide that occurred Jan. 20, 2024 at a Best Buy in Plantation."
Brown, 27, of Hollywood, is known to BSO's Gang Investigations Task Force and the SAO as he is a leader of the Dania Hot Boyz gang, also known as Grand Mafia, authorities said.
